It’s the fourth different winner in four races, #TrackTalk reviews the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.
Alexander Rossi repeats: Deja vu all over again as Alexander Rossi wins his second consecutive Grand Prix of Long Beach. The win vaults up into 2nd in the IndyCar point’s standings.
Colton Herta’s cold shower: Colton Herta might have won race two, but rounds three and four haven’t been as kind. A couple of last place finishes have seen IndyCar’s newest winner drop to 10th in points. He still holds an eight-point lead in the rookie-of-the-year race over Felix Rosenqvist.
Josef Newgarden extends his point lead: Despite the close competition, Josef Newgarden has a healthy 28-point lead over Rossi. The 2017 champion has led the points since winning the season opener in St. Petersburg. His impressive run has seen him podium in three of the four races, with fourth in Alabama his worst finish to-date.
May is upon us: It’s the last IndyCar race before the series moves home to Indianapolis for the IndyCar Grand Prix and the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500. In lieu of May, McLaren and Fernando Alonso have unveiled the livery for their Dallara-Chevrolet. You can view the launch video here.
And speaking of Alonso: McLaren used this week to shakedown the new car at Texas Motor Speedway. What did Alonso think of the high-speed banking and the universal aero kit? See what he had to say here.
