Green Savoree Portland is looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers with a can-do attitude for both the BITNILE.COM Grand Prix of Portland, August 8-10 and Pacific Office Automation 147, August 29-30. Volunteering at the Event is a unique and fulfilling experience that will offer great insight into one of the largest annual sporting events in the Pacific Northwest. We hope you will join our team!

Please read the below role descriptions and when completing your online application, please rank your position selection(s) in order of preference. There is NO GUARANTEE you will be placed in your preferred position, however we do ensure a fun and eventful weekend.

All volunteers will be required to maintain a positive attitude and exercise good judgment and discretion in handling all matters and have a full understanding and adhere to the policies and procedures set in place by the Green Savoree Portland.

VOLUNTEER TEAMS

Ceremonies & Fan Engagement

The Ceremonies & Fan Engagement is responsible for:

  • Assisting with all pre- and post-race celebrations in Victory Circle for all race series.

  • Delivery of special VIPs to specific locations at precise times during pre- and post-race celebrations.

  • Assisting with other activities as needed, including pre-race parade lap, directing dignitaries, escorting groups and helping with fan activities throughout the weekend.

  • Assisting with experiences for specialized programs such as the Champions Club and Rookie Racers throughout race weekend. 

  • Assisting with additional fan experiences such as autograph sessions, group tours, and more. 

  • Be an extra set of hands for other volunteer teams during down time. 

  • Be a friendly ambassador to all fans and have fun!

Credential Center

The Credential Center Team is responsible for:

  • Welcoming guests and assessing their needs to get them to the right credential table. 

  • Providing assistance and answering questions from guests.

  • Ensuring safe and efficient traffic flow (stay alert to the build-up of lines).

  • Preparing of credentials and ensuring that proper credentials are issued correctly to those authorized to receive them (media personnel, volunteers, staff, service workers and support workers).

  • Reporting any questions or issues to Green Savoree Portland staff.

  • Be a friendly ambassador to all guests and have fun!

Grandstands Ambassador

The Grandstands Team will be responsible for:

  • Welcoming spectators and providing friendly interactions with fans. 

  • Ask fans if they know where they are going/show their tickets before they enter grandstands.

  • Assisting fans with finding seats, concessions and facilities. 

  • Recommending general admission viewing to fans who do not have a Grandstand ticket.

  • Helping resolve ticketing issues such as spectators in wrong seats, views obstructed, etc. when possible.

  • Reporting any issues within grandstands to team leader or member of event staff such as smoking, fan altercation, open umbrellas, etc.

  • Patrolling the bottom level of each grandstand to politely remove any spectators blocking the view of others.

  • Ensuring safe and efficient traffic flow.

  • Be a friendly ambassador to all fans and have fun!

  • Regularly checking in with Staff Contact. 

Information Services

The Information Services Team is responsible for:

  • Enhancing the fan experience with their knowledge of the event.

  • Familiarizing themselves with the event site layout to be able to provide assistance and answer guest questions accurately.

  • Showing fans on the map their destination and/or escorting them to the location.

  • Assisting fans with locating their seats and/or suite, concessions and facilities.

  • Reporting any issues to a team leader or member of the event staff.

  • Be a friendly ambassador to all fans and have fun!

Media Center

The Media Center Team is responsible for:

  • Assisting the print, broadcast, online and photo journalists from around the world, including race series, teams, manufacturers, event PR staff, in the pressroom operations of race weekend.

  • Photocopying and distribution of event information, results, PR packets, press notes, etc.

  • Escorting drivers and media personnel to and from press conferences.

  • Controlling Media Center access as well as operating office equipment. 

  • Manage food and beverage delivery and supplies in the pressroom such as keeping coolers stocked, coffee area tidy, lunch area organized, etc.

  • Please note: the Media Center Team is asked to additionally be available on the Thursday of race week.

  • Select volunteers will help with the pressroom set-up earlier in race week and pre-event advance media events.

  • Be a friendly ambassador to all fans and have fun!

Pass Redemption (INDYCAR only)

The Pass Redemption Team is responsible for:

  • Welcoming fans and providing them with necessary information.

  • Ensuring fans have their mobile Paddock, Champions Club+ or Rookie Racers passes saved to their mobile wallet prior to getting in line.

  • Providing assistance accessing mobile passes for fans who are not familiar.

  • Scanning passes and exchanging for wristbands and/or credentials. 

  • Ensuring digital waivers have been assigned, when applicable (Pit Passes and Champions Club+).

  • Providing information on the passes being redeemed such as location of Pit Lane or INDYCAR Paddock, timing for Champions Club or Rookie Racers experiences, etc.

  • Be a friendly ambassador to all fans and have fun!

Photography

The Photography Team is responsible for:

  • Working with the Green Savoree Portland staff to ensure that a full list of required event photos are obtained.

  • Providing quick turnaround on key imagery throughout the event weekend, followed by full shots in the weeks after the event finishes.

  • Assisting in the capture and turnaround of sponsored items such as images of sponsor activations, signage, hospitality suites, etc.

  • Capturing on-track activity as well as off-track such as fan shots, general features and location, off-track events, etc.

  • Working with Team Leader to ensure all facets of the event are photographed.

  • Be a friendly ambassador to all fans and have fun!

Social Media Content

The Social Media Content Team is responsible for:

  • Documenting the Race Portland experience for Instagram, Facebook and X.

  • Capturing the fan experience through phone (and camera, if desired) photos and videos to be distributed on official social media channels.

  • Assisting with executing contests and giveaways.

  • Be a friendly ambassador to all fans and have fun!

Volunteer Services

The Volunteer Services Team is responsible for:

  • Acting as runners and roamers who will be assigned to any number of areas through the event weekend.

  • Relieving other team leaders requiring extra help or coverage for breaks.

  • Dispensing information about the event, race related activities.

  • Individuals assigned to this area will report to the team leader but will likely work with different team leaders throughout the weekend.

  • Be a friendly ambassador to all fans and have fun!
